Developed using the latest technological advances, Proteo is designed for a wide range of uses and provides a more ergonomic, practical, safe, and lightweight transport solution. Proteo forms Theault's 2-stall range in Australia with a choice of 4 different models.
The vehicle is divided into 3 sections with human accommodation in the cab, horse accommodation in the centre and storage at the rear. The horses travel facing the rear, a hugely successful concept which Theault are famous for pioneering in low-loading format. A study carried out in 1996 by the University of California Davis veterinary department into physiology, balance and management of horses during transportation concluded that horses travelling rear-facing suffered less stress, had a lower heart rate and balanced better than those travelling in other orientations therefore arriving at their destination fresher and more relaxed. Forces such as braking were found to be absorbed better when the horse could use his hindquarters to absorb the movement.
Proteo offers horses a much smoother ride due to the body of the horse being between and not over the axles, therefore also providing better weight distribution in the vehicle. The low-level side ramp is light and easy to use and provides an inviting entrance to the vehicle for the horse. When stationary with horses on-board the top doors over the ramp can be opened for additional ventilation.
Proteo is popular with racehorse trainers, harness racing trainers, professional transporters, competitors and amateurs alike and provides the ideal solution to smaller transport needs. With a catalogue of 120 options it is easy to tailor your Proteo horsebox to meet your individual requirements.
